Well, it never looks as good as it does in real life, does it? Some of you might remember my very first journal here: I don't like backgrounds. However, this one turned out really good.
okay, I got the hillside idea from a spot that I saw while I was in South Dakota on a family road trip. See, I come from... from... from a place where its pretty flat all around. So South Dakota was sort of a shock for me: So many hills. I saw this picture on the Devil's Tower 2.6 mile hike. First of all, I love hiking. Second of all, almost everyone was on the one mile paved "hike" around the base of Devil's Tower. Third of all, I had never seen a hill with boulders in it before.
I wanted to draw that scene on my paper. I brought up the image in my mind and started to draw.
For the boulders, I got the style from a tutorial I found while searching around Google. For the tree... well, it's just a well drawn tree for me.
Now, some of you may think that you don't learn anything in art class. Just a class to talk around and goof off, right?
Well, thats kinda true.
But, you actually learn things in art class. Thats where I got the grass from. My art teacher taught me how. Ignoring the fact that I'm one of the best drawers in my class XD.
I've searched around DeviantART a lot of times, searching for some good art to look at. I've found a lot of people who have based one of their pieces on this idea: An island floating in the middle of nowhere. Many famous people used this idea also(i.e. Hiyo Miazaki, The Gorillaz, etc.).
But I was right about one thing. Nope, no pretty nebula in the distance or beautiful sunset. Just some lines.
New deals posted everyday, starting Black Friday and running through the holiday season! No hassles, no lines - just awesome savings on art, deviantWEAR, Premium Memberships and more!
Merry Christmas to you out there but don't forget: we are only guests here and so...listen to my favourite words... and look at all these wonderful pieces of art
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
